A NEW LOOK FOR AUNTIE

Wordshop is delighted to have been selected to create a new brand for the BBC Pension Scheme.

Our designers created a new logo for the Scheme that reflects the strength and dominance of the BBC parent brand, but also the helpful, service-oriented focus of the BBC’s in-house Pension and Benefits Centre.

We drew inspiration from the Corporation’s rich history in animation, to create a brand that supports our client’s objective of providing pension information in a clear, easy to understand way. The use of the ‘BBC Pension Friends’ adds a little light-hearted fun to the brand and reflects one particular aspect of the BBC’s history – animation – in this, the 40th year since the appearance of Morph on TV screens.

The new brand has been approved by the Trustees of the BBC Pension Scheme, so the process of applying the brand across the Scheme’s full suite of member communications, including its website, has now begun in earnest.

The BBC produces its pensions materials in-house, so we have provided a comprehensive brand guidelines document that will help steer the brand rollout. We have also reviewed the content across several documents to help ensure that the tone of voice matches the new, friendlier Scheme brand.

Ian Cutter, Head of Pension Shared Services, says: ‘The Scheme has had the same branding for a considerable number of years. We felt that a new visual identity would help us to reinvigorate member communications, especially as we look to broaden the ways of communicating with our members.

‘We found working with Wordshop very easy; throughout the process they have been extremely flexible and responsive to our requests and we are delighted with the end result.’
